About
Me
I grew up in Grand Rapids, MI where I completed my undergraduate degree in psychology at Calvin College. I am currently pursuing doctoral study and Wheaton College, where I received my masters degree in clinical psychology this past May. My training thus far has been primarily with the adolescent and young adult population. I am excited for the opportunity at Heartland to pursue testing and therapy with a wide range of clients
Counseling Style
Though my professional identity is still being formed through training, education and client interaction, I would describe my approach to clinical work as integrative. Each individual is entirely unique and requires a personalized approach that develops within the therapeutic relationship.
Specialties
While I am interested in working in a generalist capacity, my training, research and experience have allowed me to specialize in working with children and adolescents on a variety of issues including, but not limited to, depression, anxiety, conduct, gender identity and relational difficulties.
Hobbies and Interests
I love the outdoors and try to spend as much time as I can climbing, backpacking or camping as graduate studies will allow. My favorite places to explore include Fjordland National Park, New Zealand; Grand Teton National Park, WY; The Talkeetna mountain range, AK; Yosemite National Park, CA.
Favorites
My favorite TV shows are The Office & Man vs. Wild along with most anything on the History and discovery channel.
